Lions Clubs International Multiple District
310 Thailand presents the "Lions Villages" Project with
the support of Lions International Foundation (LCIF) and
the 6 Lions Districts Thailand for the victims
of the tsunami of December 26th, 2004. It was
approved to begin the project in the following 2 areas:
1. The Lions Village Koh Lanta Yai , Krabi Province with
65 houses, a sports field,and other facilities on a parcel
of land obtained from Government Land Office under
observance of regulations. Project estimated Budget at
901,000 US$ ( 36,040,000.- Bahts) Excellent cooperation
was received from Government officials, the people concerned and
the members of the Lions Club of Krabi. 2.
The Lions Village Koh Phrathong , Pangna Province, with 115
houses with all faclilities such as school,sports field,health
Center on parcels of land of 5 rais donated by Past President of
Takuapa Lions, as well as another adjacent parcel of 9
rais donated and 9 more to be purchased at the price of 300,000
Bahts per rai or a total of Bahts 2,700,000.- A total of 23 rais
used for the building of this project. Estimated budget 1.55
M.US$ (62 Million Bahts). Again excellent cooperation from
Government officials, the people concerned and the members of
the Lions Club of Takuapa. On April 25th,
2005, Dr. Tup Sae Lee, Chairman of LCIF came to Thailand to
present 1.25 M. US$ and International Director K.J.Woo presented
100 M.US$ . at the Press Conference at Sofitel Central Plaza in
the presence of Vice Prime Minister Pinit Jaroosombat as
Chairman. It is estimated that building should
start July 2005 and houses to be ready to be officially
presented to the people January 2006. We would
like to express our sincere gratitude to all the contributors
for their kind generosity.
